PARTNERING WITH VOLVO CARS TO UNLEASH THE “SMALL BUT MIGHTY” POWER — Volvo is renowned for its commitment to safety—both for people and the planet. This summer, the company launched an electric car that embodies this commitment by incorporating recycled materials into its interior design. One of these materials is denim, the same beloved fabric we use for our products. Volvo invited UseDem to collaborate on introducing this innovation to customers in an engaging, playful way. Innovation often requires a unique approach to communication, and at UseDem, we specialize in hands-on, interactive methods for conveying sustainable practices. For the first stage of our collaboration, we placed a donation tube in the Volvo showroom for customers to drop off their old jeans. Alongside this, we provided information about the significant water consumption involved in producing denim and introduced Volvo’s new initiative to use recycled denim in their car interiors. During the three-day event, we hosted upcycling workshops that engaged customers and demonstrated creative ways to repurpose discarded denim. Various products were offered, including bags, refillable water bottle holders, passport/license holders, phone cases, and headphone cases. After the event, customers who shared their experiences on social media and received the most engagement were rewarded with special gifts—customized bags made by UseDem from their own jeans. Mission of the Collaboration: To promote recycling and upcycling among customers, fostering a strong connection and positive sentiment toward the use of recycled and upcycled materials.
Collaboration impact: 220 jeans upcycled into new bags, saving 831,600 liters of water.
